Jo has over 18 years of experience on social media, starting with MySpace. Tom Anderson was her first online friend. 😁 In 2007, she joined Facebook to keep an eye on her youngest son, and one thing led to another. Jo has been managing social media accounts for a long time and still enjoys discovering new ways to connect online. Her favorite thing about social media is learning about new places, cultures, music, and art through influencers. While Jo doesn’t consider herself a social media influencer, she was doing it long before it became a trend. She simply calls it making Happy Trails and sharing!

A-Frame Bakery, Williamstown, MA

Jo loves this place for so many reasons. She jokes that everyone has a bar, and this is hers—her Cheers! She enjoyed the menu so much that she wanted everyone in the world to know about all the amazing things Sharon Sutter was baking. With permission, Jo launched A-Frame Bakery’s Facebook page on July 14, 2012. Once the page was up and running, the family took over managing the posts and updates. Over the years, she watched Sharon and Richard Sutter’s kids grow up. Jo loves this beautiful family and their delicious baked goods. She adores and respects how all six kids worked side by side with their mom and dad—an admirable family working together. Sharon is a talented baker and trained chef who left New York City for the Berkshires. Thank goodness for all!

Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield, MA

Jo never imagined that she would work for a museum or help launch its social media presence. But shortly after returning to the Berkshires for the second time in 2010, she met Stuart Chase, the director of the Berkshire Museum, who asked her to assist with their annual Festival of Trees. Jo took a traditional approach to marketing, driving all over town to stop at small businesses and pin the museum’s event poster to corkboards! Her efforts combined both traditional guerrilla marketing and digital strategies. She also posted on the museum’s Facebook page, sharing still images and videos to promote the event. In fact, Jo was already promoting the museum before Stuart even asked her to join as a staff member. She reported to Jeremy Goodwin, the Berkshire Museum’s Director of Communications at the time. Today, Jeremy can be heard as the arts and culture senior reporter on public radio in St. Louis. Stuart, meanwhile, now serves as a consultant for museums, artists, and more through S.A.
